Telecom kills ADSL

Did you know that the market of ADSL is for ’80% held by Telecom? And that the remaining 20% of the market access is the score (cannibalized) by the remaining 5 major operators, namely Wind, Fastweb, Vodafone – Tele2 (Tele2 has been acquired by Vodafone), Tiscali and BT. Imagine then that 8 out of 10 have the ADSL Telecom while the remaining have a DSL written alternatives above. Practically for the other operators there is no market for them.
Is instinctive to imagine that such majority of clients, 80% Telecom, is due to commercial competitiveness and merits inherent quality of its service. But it is not. Telecom in fact still operating in a situation of “monopoly” due to non-service operators in relation to other ADSL. In practice, Telecom would make available its lines to other operators so that they could sell their services to Italian clients and, of course (Telecom) has not done in the manner agreed to by law.
To facilitate smooth conduct of Telecom against other players and then to ensure that Italian citizens the opportunity to enjoy the attractive prices due to competition, was established a body called “Open Access”. Open Access in fact would have ensured equal access to the old Telecom Network by alternative operators so that prices would fall and quality of ADSL could rise. Course did not happen. The authority authorized to monitor and ensure the right (Open Access) has actually helped Telecom, failing to meet its goals and, consequently, the status of ADSL in Italy that has remained: much more expensive in other countries in Europe and much less performance than in other European countries.
E ‘can then say that kills Telecom ADSL maintaining a virtual monopoly on the market, moreover, if Telecom has direct access to the’ 80% market share without difficulty, there is hardly a reason to reduce prices and improve service . This second how she Telecom, obviously.
